This article from The Register suggests that the issue of who should run the DNS has been taken off the table at the upcoming World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva this week, gratning ICANN a reprieve.  Previous reports had suggested that there was a strong movement to move administration from ICANN to the International Telecommunications Union.

If you Google MPAA today, the first hit is this article indicating that Judge Mukasey in the Southern District of NY has ruled that the MPAA may not block independent filmmakers from sending out screening copies.  MPAA had wanted the prohibition so as to cut down on film piracy.  Additional coverage from Marketwatch here.

The second hit is this press release from Internetmovies.com.  The MPAA’s anti-piracy Ranger software had indicated that the third installment of Lord of the Rings, which won’t be released December 17, had been offered by Internetmovies.com since March 2001 (sic).  The release indicates that the MPAA, in sending a DMCA letter, could not have held a good faith belief that it was offering an infringing copy a year before the film was completed.
